Reuel Shatar, the handsome Governor of Pyrali and its three moons, is noble to his galactic core and duty bound to produce the next ruler of the Alliance. His choice is to blackmail a beautiful dissident into his mating chamber or have the House of Shatar fall into disgrace.

Christa Kirklan is as stubborn as her Earthling heritage and as unpredictable as a cosmic storm. Faced with exile to a frigid asteroid for her treasonous dialogue, or marriage to the man who represents everything she hates, Christa reluctantly chooses marriage.

What better arena to voice her discontentment with the empires prejudice and archaic social culture than the Alliance's own dais? What better way to raise her people from outcasts to noble citizens than to put an Earthling on the future throne of the galaxy?

Pyrali watches as Lord Shatar pledges his allegiance to an alien, while Christa vows to find the real reason behind Reuel's seductive scheme. United in a political union, forged by a man's hidden shame and a woman's quest for freedom, the Alliance trembles under the final test of their love.

Affaire de Coeur - Six Stars
Keep your eyes out for more works by Patricia Waddell. A remarkable writer with considerable talent. Ms. Waddell writes The Alliance as a romance set in the future. This is a sensuous love story filled with conflict on greater issues like prejudice, freedom, equality, and social morays. You might call this a Science Fiction Regency Romance. Another keeper from LionHearted.

Romantic Times - Four Stars
Contrary to the movie title of a few years back, Earth girls are not easy. Reuel Shatar, the governor of Pyrali, decides to take Earthling Christa Kirklan as his wife because it seems her womb is just the right one to guarantee him a male heir. Ms. Waddell weaves a tale that's out of this world.

Romance Communications
Romantic Science fiction takes a new upturn in The Alliance. The super talented Patricia Waddell commands attention with this, her first book. And it's a personal keeper in my budding ebook library.

Romantic Bower
The Alliance deserves the highest recommendations. Among the usual ebook fodder, this tale of galactic romance is a shining example of top quality writing. LionHearted choose well with this tale of manners, customs and morays challenged when a man in need weds the right woman for the wrong reasons. A regency set in space, perhaps? Sexy, sensual and fun to read. Thank You Patricia Waddell.

Rhapsody Magazine
Ahhh... such bliss, such fire, such sensual beauty. No other words seem to encompass the talent Ms. Waddell has shown in The Alliance. Truly a remarkable novel of love and duty, she has managed to make an unknown world come to life with an ease and skill to leave the reader wanting more. Let your prejudices be gone, let your fantasies awaken, let Ms. Waddell take you to places you've never been before.

A Little Romance / Jo Anderson
Patricia Waddell creates a complete new world for this heavily character driven story. You will soon become emeshed in the lives of these two strong independent people. Ms Waddell produces some of the best characterizations and world building I have seen in quite sometime. I sincerely hope we will be reading more stories about The Alliance.

While other authors write the publisher mandated story lines and popular best selling fiction lines, Ms. Waddell proves she is an innovated and gusty writer by writing her own stories. KUDOS Pat and LionHearted for this incredible book. This is definitely a recommended read.

Scribes World / Lisa Ramaglia - Four 1/2 Stars
Adarian and Earthling, male and female, genders and cultures clash the moment Reuel and Christa meet, and provide constant fuel for the story's conflict. In fact, their differences and refusal to compromise make up the entire source of conflict for ninety-five percent of the book. While I would have enjoyed more action and conflict in the plot outside the relationship, the world-building Ms. Waddell did for The Alliance was very well done and kept my interest until the very end. The tragedy that strikes Pyrali near the end was so vivid, so well-done that I could actually envision I was there, or watching it on the big screen. If you enjoy detailed science fiction settings and cultures and great relationship plots, give Patricia Waddell's The Alliance a look. It's sure to entertain.

Kathy's Fave and Raves / Kathy Boswell - Four Thumbs Up
This most enjoyable book was about compromise and mostly it was about achieving love even when all seems hopeless. I most especially enjoyed the happy ending. I look forward to reading more of Patricia Waddell's work.

About.com Romance Fiction / Katriena Knights - Four Hearts
Unlike most futuristic romance, The Alliance is heavily character-oriented. Reuel and Christa are presented in three dimensional reality, forced by their relationship to explore their own faults and prejudices while searching for a middle ground which will allow them to love each other. Their feelings for each other challenge them both, bringing into focus the flaws in both long-standing belief systems.

Pyrali itself serves as a character, as well, presented in careful detail. The Alliance and the planet Pyrali are as essential to the story as its lead characters, and are treated as such.

The Alliance goes beyond the clichés of most futuristic romance and presents living, breathing characters in a living, breathing world. This is an enjoyable and well-crafted book which should please any lover of romance.

Huntress Book Reviews / Lynne Beacham
I really enjoyed this story! The arrogance of a man, the stubborness of a woman, and the clashing of the wills! Yet I could feel the love they shared. The story flowed easily and the characters were well done. Only one problem: Did they ever have any chilldren? Perhaps there will be a sequel.

Romance Novel Review / Shelley DeWayne
This is a fun book. I love the strong characters! The conflict will keep you turning the pages long into the night. How can people of different species get along, let alone marry? Can Christa live with the Adarian arrogance that fills her new home? Will Reuel ever be able to understand his wife? Will he want to? Will love conquer all in this far away land?

Road to Romance
Patricia Waddell's first futuristic romance, The Alliance, is a worthwhile read if only for the relationship between Reuel, the confident, arrogant ruler of a strong race and the head strong, intelligent, beautiful teacher Christa. They clash like 'a wuta in the midst of a mating frenzy', but over the course of the book learn how to accept the best and the worst in each other.

But that isn't the only reason, as Patricia's book is a good read on many levels. She has developed interesting, deep characters, a fast moving storyline and a unique world with differences that both characters are at odds with. Her secondary characters are really well done, enhancing the storyline and giving the reader a strong idea of what life on Pyrali would be like.

The author has used a keen imagination to produce an entirely new world, with customs, dress and attitudes unique to the race. Futuristic's always make for interesting reading, and Patricia Waddell's book is no exception.

Book Isle Paperbacks / Cy Korte
I enjoyed this story enough to read twice. Once when I ordered it at the advice of another PNR member who knew I love Futuristics, and again several months later to write a review. When a book is labeled a "futuristic" it sometimes reads like a historical loosely set in outer space. You won't find that with this story. The world established is believably futuristic but not in a sci-fi style. I am looking forward to other stories by this author.

As governor of Pyrali and the eldest son of his house, Reuel Shatar is increasingly pressured to produce a male heir. His child will be the next ruler of the Alliance, and as time goes on, the pressure mounts. However, he has a small problem, he has been rendered infertile to the females of his species. Relief comes with the discovery that all is not lost, he can reproduce with earthling females. The aliens have lived on his planet for many years, but are discriminated against and treated very much like inferiors.

Christa Kirklan is an earthling and a tireless supporter for the rights of her species. Outspoken, spunky, and stubborn about her rights, the young teacher has found herself imprisoned for treason when she went too far far with her demands for equal representation for earthlings in the Pyrali government for her fellow humans. She has no idea that the course of her fate will soon be altered.

When Reuel discovers that Christa is his best choice for a mate he is shocked. The woman is nothing like those of his own race. Instead of the demure quiet nature that he is used to, Christa immediately lets him know that she is no pushover. She reluctantly agrees to marry him when it becomes clear that she will be able to help the earthlings with her alliance to the governor. But this marriage is not destined for happily ever after. Reuel and Christa are very different people and they have much to learn from one another. Only by learning how to conform their duty and freedom, can they become a match to last a lifetime.

The Alliance is very unique both in its plotting and detail. Not just a futuristic, there are shades of Regency romance as well. Reuel and Christa are both three-dimensional characters that integrate well with the Pyrali world. Appealing to a wide audience, The Alliance is a standout!

Harriet Klausner
The Alliance is a complex science fiction romance that escorts readers into a wide range of social issues. The story line works because the audience believes that the planet Pyrali and other worlds exist due to the detail of the social system created by Patricia Waddell. Reuel is a great character struggling between his heritage towards females and the new woman he married. Christa is learning that criticizing is easier than ruling. Ms. Waddell provides one FROM THE HEART with this fabulous tale that calls for future trips into The Alliance.

The Belles and Beaux of Romance / Suzanne Coleburn - Five Stars
This is one fantastic futuristic book that I'm glad to say is a 5 Star read! Once I started it I couldn’t put it down, but carried it around with me as I did the few chores I had to do. At the end of each chapter I thought I was going to put it down but then I had to find out what would happen next. Ms. Waddell made sure I was captivated by the compelling love story between Lord Shatar, Reuel and his Earthling wife Crista.

There is a great cast of characters and a special advisor of Reuel's named Minlim who is a real sweetheart. Reuel and Crista will cast a spell over you, as love's arrows test them to the limit as they ask themselves is it duty or could it be love? I'm just hoping Ms. Waddell will be working on more stories about the Alliance because now I'm hooked on this story and want to see it continue so come on Ms. Waddell here's hoping this reader will get her wish! Don’t miss this story. Yes, it's that good!

Patricia Waddell is quite a superb storyteller! She paints some fantastic word pictures that shimmer like crystal as you are hit by a rainbow of color, sights and sounds in other worlds that captures your imagination immediately.

Christa Kirklan had learned the hard way that the council of the Alliance had no place for an irrational species such as Earthlings. Her request for representation had shocked the council, but she might have avoided incarceration had she not labeled them petty tyrants.

Lord Reuel Shatar, Governor of the planet Pyrali, Cadish of the Seventh Noble House of the Alliance has concerns of his own. He'd been born to believe that duty comes first. It is ironic that something as insignificant as an insect bite could shatter his plans. He'd been expected to offer for Lady Katala, family friend, the epitomy of Adarian womanhood. The females of his race were docile and deferential, content with motherhood, leaving the remaining resonsiblilities to superior males. One small bite had changed his life. No Adarian womb would now accept his seed, but he's had news that a female of an alien race had been found who could bear him an heir.

Reuel has steeled himself to the necessity of mating with an alien. Committing his life to one, might take some fortitude. Minlim's suggestion is shocking. An Earthling? While physically similar, and genetically compatible, he had no desire to mate with such an incongruous creature. Yet his son was slated to be the next High Cadish, ruler of the entire Alliance. His house was next in the rotation from which they are selected. His sense of duty will not permit him to refuse, even when he learns that the Earthling in question was currently locked up in the Penal Colony for making outrageous demands.

Christa had been rethinking the wisdom of her rhetoric, when she's made the offer. Given the choice between marrying one of the major petty tyrants or spending a solitary existence, exiled on an asteroid, she's hard-pressed to decide which would be worse. Yet a son of their union, the next High Cadish, would also be her son, and hope for her people.

Once wed, the only thing the pair can agree on is that with the exception of their exceptional mating they are completely incompatible. Yet Christa is dimly aware that she is not the type to share her body without giving her heart. Reuel finds himself wanting to extend the closeness of their mating into sleep time. The two are firmly convinced that all could be well if only the other would embrace their point of view.

Exasperated by his wife's behavior he'd left her behind on the planet to attend an important meeting when disaster struck. Apart the two realize that their concern for each other's well-being is not merely superficial. Brought together to deal with the calamity, each in their own way, the pair comes to realize that from what they'd viewed to be their mate's fatal shortcomings had sprung their greatest strength. Through courage and grave sacrifice they come to accept what is in their hearts. The Alliance is an inspirational work, fraught with emotion and humor, timeless in its message.

The Alliance is a wonderfully complete window into a new society. Ms. Waddell has presented this land in vivid detail. Reuel and Christa were presented as true children of their upbringing and it is fantastic to see them learning from their experiences. A very visual tale that would appeal to both romance and science fiction fans, The Alliance is a fantastic read in any world.

Die-bueckereck.de reviews / Ina D (German review) - Five Stars
Christa Kirklan belongs to a minority group on the planet Pyrali: the Earthlings. Her ancestors were the survivors of a spaceship crash on one of Pyrali's three moons. Pyrali and many other planets are governed by the so-called "Alliance," a council made up of a variety of races / peoples and headed by a Regent whose representatives are mainly drawn from the cool, rational-thinking people of the planet Adara. One of these Adarians is the Governor of Pyrali, Lord Reuel Shatar, who belongs to one of Adara's seven most influential noble houses. Christa is fighting against the discrimination of her people and hopes to succeed in gaining a voice on the council for the Earthlings. This causes her a great deal of trouble because the Adarians look down on the emotional and passion-driven Earthlings and their rebellious ways. In addition, the Adarians suppress their women and demand absolute obedience from them.

Tradition deems that one of Lord Shatar's heirs would follow him as Regent, but after an illness, Reuel is unable to father children with women of his own race. However, his closest confidante Minlin succeeds in finding a female from another race who, it is said, has an 80% probability of producing a male child: Christa Kirklan, who is currently imprisoned for disruptive public speaking. At first, Reuel is outraged, but he is also prepared to do his duty for the Alliance. From the very first moment he sees the fascinating Earthling, he is determined to make her his wife. He has to resort to blackmail in order to force her to agree to their marriage. He withholds his true reasons, and she believes he wants her solely because he desires her. In her new role as Reuel's wife, she is finally in the position she's always hoped to be in, one that allows her to improve her people's standing. But she also finds it exceedingly difficult to adjust to the strictures placed upon her in her new role, and, to his surprise, Reuel discovers that he doesn't want her to be submissive. Little by little, they overcome their prejudices, but are still not ready to admit their love for each other. Then, all of a sudden, a catastrophe befalls the planet Pyrali...

This book has everything a good Futuristic needs: an exotic setting, a variety of peoples / races, spaceships, and love between two very different characters who must overcome all manner of tests. I nearly read this book straight through in one sitting.

Patricia Waddell has opened up a new venue in Sci-Fi fantasy when she added a sexually charged wooing between our hero and heroine. Set in the future in the far reaches of space, this tale reads like a Regency but is chalked full of social and moral delemmas. The book has excellent characterizations and a great story line. It is a fast paced, tension filled read, and when you are done you hate to put the book down. This is a keeper in whatever format you read.

Fictional Pursuits, L.L.P. / Debbie Braaten
This book is beautifully written. Reuel and Christa have to overcome their preconceived ideas and prejudices in order for their love to grow. Patricia Waddell weaves her magic and pulls you so deeply into her world that she wrings the emotions right out of you. This, in my opinion, is a mark of an excellent storyteller. I highly recommend this book.

Lord Reuel Shatar, governor of Pyrali, is bound by duty. His entire life, he's been groomed for giving the Alliance an heir. A single insect bite forces him to take an alien wife, instead of the Adarian he'd always hoped to marry. His personal advisor chooses a fiery, passionate Earthling, much to Reuel's dismay. It is only is devotion to the Alliance and duty that prompts him to even consider the match.

Christa Kirklan had always been outspoken and passionate, especially when it came to Earthling rights. Unfortunately, her outspoken nature landed her in prison and in Governor Shatar's sights. Given a choice between exile or marriage to Reuel, her first instinct was to choose exile. Only after lengthy discussions with Reuel's advisor does she choose marriage to the overbearing, pompous governor.

Their marriage is anything but peaceful. Reuel's upbringing and Christa's nature are constantly clashing, each trying unsuccessfully to change the other. When a planet-wide disaster strikes Pyrali their differences are shoved aside to aid their people. Among the ruins and rescue efforts, love blossoms.

My first initial impression of The Alliance was to firmly close the book and send it to another reviewer. The hero's overbearing nature grated heavily on my nerves yet I was determined to give him a chance. I'm glad I did. As I continued to read, I began to realize the hero acted as his culture dictated. A culture steeped in tradition. If I had let my personal prejudices force me into putting the book down, I would have missed an amazing novel.

My realization made this novel come alive for me. I was able to understand and identify with Christa, how she saw the Adarians as being tyrannical and unfair. Yet, her own prejudices colored her view, preventing her from seeing Reuel as a man she could love and even admire. Ms. Waddell has succeeded where others have not and altered my opinion of the dominant, alpha hero. Do not for any reason miss this wonderfully, amazing novel!

What Readers Are Saying

From: A reader from Greenville SC Five Stars (on Amazon.com)
"If the rating went up to 10 - this book deserves them all!
The Alliance is undoubtedly the best futuristic "romance" I have ever read. And I stress the word romance. It's a love story beginning to end on a wonderfully described world with enchanting, believable characters. I can't fault this book for anything. It's a truly fabulous read for those who enjoy futurisitcs and romances alike - the author, Patricia Waddell, has written a beautiful story that will hook any fan of romance. Can't wait to read her again."

"Exciting and fun! Wishing I were on another planet.
This is an excellent semi-futuristic. Semi-futuristic? Yes, as it's set on another planet in the future but without the usual supernatural and/or magic elements. What is magic, though, is the superior story, fast pace, bold heroine, and to-die-for hero. Everything you're looking for! Sex? It's not Dara Joy-like explicit, but definitely titillating. An A+ read that you're sure to enjoy."

From: A new fan in Texas Five Stars (on Amazon.com)
"I loved every page! This is a great read from LionHearted, an independent press that puts out wonderful romance novels. If you are a fan of Dara Joy I suggest you also give THE ALLIANCE a try. I think this novel is superior in many ways. The overall quality of the writing was top-noch and kept me turning pages, the complexity and depth of the characters had me hooked from the first meeting, and the romance relationship was never overpowered by sub plots or minor characters, yet the secondary characters add just the right blend to the overall book.

The opening line -- "I have found a suitable female, my lord." -- sets the pace and kept me up all night. It's a real page turner, and a keeper! I found it more sensually hot than any of Dara Joy's books, but without corssing the line into erotica. The love scenes are hot, but not offensive or mechanical. Yes, it is sexy, but the way the story weaves around major issues makes this an unusual read for a romance. It is an insightful, powerful and romantic read set in space that offers us a mirror to current mankind's issues and prejudices against nationalities, social classes, women, moral values, honor and duty.

The hero, Lord Reuel Shatar, needs an heir to keep the House of Shatar from falling into disgrace when next the Shatar's turn to rule comes around. He anticipates marrying another his family has approved of for years and is on the brink of that commitment when he finds he cannot bear a child with one of his own kind, and therefore must find a suitable mate from outside his class and species. His trustworthy, very wise (crafty), elder, finds Reuel a mate, an earthling female in prison for her outspoken views on equality for women and other unfortunates put down by the current House of Shatar. Lord Reuel Shatar is a powerful hero yet he finds he must resort to blackmail to get his reluctant bride into marrage and into bed, something he must do soon to remain a ruling house in The Alliance. They instantly dislike each other, but there is reluctant attraction, and thus the sparks fly. The love scenes (some of the best in the romance genre) ignite, and the two experience many challenges with their new union that keep them at odds. They both learn and grow from their shared experiences, and ultimately unite in a test of their love to save the House of Shatar. I highly recommend this book."

"I just purchased The Alliance at the airport bookstore in Portland, Oregon and zoomed through it nonstop all the way back to Minneapolis, Minnesota. I don't normally buy romances and have only read one futuristic romance before, but I could not put it down. The characters were wonderful and rich. It is truly one of the best I have ever read. Do you have any other futurist romances 'in the works?' Can't wait to read your next one! Thanks for sharing your gift for writing with us." Karen

"I have ordered 4 books from LionHearted. I recommend you to those who ask for referrals at the bookstore where I work. Each one I've read has been wonderfully written and great fun to sit back and enjoy. Oracle was fantastic. The Alliance was so good I have read it twice. Yesterday Once More was incredibly written and a delightful read. Keep up the good work. I hope you continue to have such quality writers on your list." Martha

"I love the futuristic/fantasy romances and there just aren't many around. Loved the characters! I have been reading romance novels for over 20 years and it is such a treat when I can find a new author. I can't say enough about your book. Stayed up until 4:30 to finish - couldn't put it down. I enjoyed it so much." Beverly

"With her deft writing style, Ms. Waddell combines a fine mix of action and passion to satisfy both readers of sci-fi and romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented writer." JK

"I am currently on the 12th chapter of The Alliance. I must say - I am an avid reader of Romance, but so few authors have the ability to mix the frustration Love and Desire can bring with the temptation to lose yourself in it's pleasure - like you have." Christine

"Just finished The Alliance. It was great reading! Fabulous story! Quite different from what I normally read - didn't stop till I finished the book - was wonderful! Loved Reuel! With men like him in the future - it looks promising. Congratulations Pat!" Rae

"I just finished my first futuristic romp through Pat Waddell's seductive romance between the Governor of Pyrali and his outspoken Earthling wife. I'd love to visit Pyrali just to join its inhabitants in admiring those two. I don't know who is the luckier character, Christa or Reuel! Pat Waddell weaves a wonderful, heartfelt tale that is enchanting. Her characters are magnetic!" Kathleen Pickering, author of Echoes of Love

"I had to write and let you know how much I enjoyed The Alliance. A friend recommended it to me because she knows I'm a futuristic fan. Wow! What a book. Your characters were marvelous and what you did with the story kept me glued to my chair until I finished the last word. Your story made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me want to go out and fall in love. Whatever you do--keep writing." Holly

"I love the setting of the book. You have brought the futuristic world alive with pictorial descriptions that are never so long that they bore the reader. I can see this story very clearly in my mind. The hero and heroine are a perfect foil for each other and are in perfect balance. And you have nicely balanced his male superior attitude with honor and duty so that the reader likes him even while waiting for him to see the light! The heroine, despite everything, never loses her integrity. Neither does she lose her femininity--always the danger with modern-day feminist heroines! I love the way the story and the conflicts are resolved. She does not become a pseudo-man at the end but wins the day by becoming pure woman. Bravo! This is your milieu, Pat. I hope there are other books like this in the making." Mary Balogh ~ USA Today Bestselling Author

"There's no other word for The Alliance but Wondeful with a capital W. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I'm recommending it to all my friends. I fell in love with Reuel and I thought Minlim was just enchanting. What great characters. I felt the emotions right along with them. I can't wait for your next book." Elizabeth

"I picked up your book yesterday and made the mistake of sitting down to read a few chapters before dinner. Well, it's two in the morning and dinner was Tuesday's leftover meatloaf ala microwave, because I couldn't put The Alliance down. The more I read, the more I wanted to keep reading. Your writing is marvelous and your characters are so real to life, I didn't know whether I wanted to shake Reuel until his teeth rattled or fall in love with him myself. Please put me on your mailing list. I don't want to miss your next book." Vivian Gillespie

"I just finished The Alliance and I had to let you know how much I enjoyed the book. It was a pure joy to read and it's going on my 'keeper' shelf to be read again and again. It's a classic !!!" Janette

"Pat Waddell has created a futuristic world that welcomes the reader with open arms. The Alliance is a poignant love story, placed in a futuristic setting, rather than a futuristic novel with romantic elements. Reuel and Christa are very real people, facing real issues of love, betrayal, attraction and dismay. If other futuristic authors follow Pat's lead, the genre will quickly become a favorite with romance readers everywhere." DanaRae

"I just finished reading The Alliance. Wow! What a book. You transported me into a marvelous new world filled with tantalizing characters, sensual tension, and an ending that forces me to ask for More - More - More!!! Please tell me, I haven't seen the last of Pyrali's wonderful couple and the enchanting Minlim." Carrie

"I just finished reading The Alliance. I received the book as an early Christmas present from a friend, who had raved about it several months ago. In the holiday spirit, I nestled down in an easy chair with a cup of hot chocolate and a paperplate full of goodies and began reading. I loved the book! Within minutes I was swept away to the world of Pyrali, with three brightly shining moons and characters who captured by heart and mind. I've been a fan of futuristic romance for a long time, and I enjoy time travels, but I can honestly say that your book did more for me than anything I read in a very long time. You are a wonderful writer and I'm pleased to have discovered you. I look forward to more of your books in the New Year, especially your futuristics." Brenda

"Just wanted to let you know that The Alliance is the first time I've ever read a Sci-fi. It was wonderful! You've got me hooked." Fernanea

"Patricia, I just finished reading The Alliance. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed it, and I'm thrilled to have an autographed copy of what I hope is the first of many futuristics to come. Your writing vibrates with sensuality. I enjoyed every word of this delicious romance between the handsome Reuel Shatar and his unlikely bride." Delores

"I started reading The Alliance last night and I couldn't put it down. The book is as wonderful as its author! After spending hours glued to the pages of the best futuristic I have ever read, I didn't want the book to end. Even now, less than 24 hours after I finished it, I could pick it up and read it all over. That's how GREAT it is. As a matter of fact, I think I'll do just that. Best wishes and here's hoping for many, many more exciting futuristics like The Alliance." Sheryl

"Pat - I just had to tell you that I ran across my ebook copy of The Alliance, and I had to read it again. <grin> It was sooo good. When are you going to write another Futuristic/Fantasy romance? You do it sooooo well! The only other author that can touch you is Johanna Lindsey with her Warrior series, and that is saying a LOT! You must keep me posted... for author's like you are rare... and your fans depend on you to dredge us out of the mire of this reality." Christine

"I was absolutely delighted with The Alliance. The book has everything I look for in a good romance. The unusual setting (the future and another planet) always leaves open the possibility of an anything-can-happen scenario, but few writers can execute it as well as you did. I like the practical and bold heroine (no whiny wimps for me!) and the strong hero. The Alliance was an exciting adventure! " Janice

"Pat - I wanted to let you know that I loved The Alliance. What's not to love, especially Reuel. You blended an enchanting futuristic world with an enchanting hero, a wonderful heroine, great supporting characters, and a story that kept the pages turning non-stop. When a friend told me about the book, I hesitated because I don't normally read futuristic or sci-fi romance, but she promised I wouldn't be disappointed, and she was right. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and your writing style. Your books will be on my shopping list from now on. Best wishes." Sherry

"I had a marvelous time reading The Alliance. You are a wonderful writer and I finished the book in one full read, front to back. By the time I got to the end of Chapter One, I was so embedded in the story, I felt like Pyrali was just down the street instead of a galaxy away. Please keep writing, your readers are growing and they want to see more of your wonderfully told stories." Lillian

"Since I first read The Alliance, I have wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the story. The chemistry between the hero and heroine was so strong I could "feel" it while reading, and I was transformed to another world... I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will take us back to Pyrali for more about Reuel and Christa or create another world for us to visit." Linda

"I started reading The Alliance last night, after I got home. I couldn't put it down. It's better than good - It's awesome!!! I've already mailed my friends, telling them if they don't read another book this year, they have to read The Alliance. Please keep churning out these delicious books. You've got a lot of hungry readers out there." Pamela

"I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading The Alliance. What a wonderful, moving love story. And what a wonderful world you created. It felt so real to me and I can't wait to visit it again. I'm looking forward to more of your strong, outspoken characters and dynamic heroes. The Alliance was a pure joy to read." Debbie

"After reading The Alliance, I'm proud to say we're from the same hometown. The delightful book you penned brought me hours of enjoyment. Not usually a reader of futuristics (historicals are my favorite) I found myself submerged in the intricate, skillfully created realm of the Alliance. You won me over with your storytelling ability. Consider me one of your biggest fans." Abbie

"I finished The Alliance last night and had to let you know how much I enjoyed the book. In my opinion, it is one of the best futuristics ever. Everything about the story was fabulous - the characters, the setting, and the sensual tone that began on page one and flowed throughout the book. My kind of romance, my kind of story, which means you're my kind of author. I'm on my way to the bookstore today to find something else you've written. Can't wait!" Susan

"Ms. Waddell, I read your book The Alliance in ebook format from LionHearted Publishing, (I am just getting into these e books <g>) and I must say, I loved it! Just absolutely loved it. It had great characters, the hero was fabulous, and it had just the right amount of everything. Though I was not a futuristic fan, I am one now!" Alexx

Patricia Waddell

Affaire de Coeur - Finalist - Best Up and Coming Author in 2001

Patricia writes for the pure joy of escaping the day to day confines of reality. The reason she thinks most of us pick up a book. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Pat grew up in the Mid-West, where old fashioned values grow like corn. After a full day as a professional accountant, she races home to her keyboard and walks through the looking glass into the world of romantic fiction.

Her first two books, historical romances set in Texas, were inspired by growing up with Zane Grey on the bookshelves and Bonanza on the TV screen. The Alliance is about love in a galaxy far-far away with a reflection of the past.

"I wanted to write a story that transcends time and space. After all, that’s what love does."

A firm believer that life can never have too many happy endings, Pat enjoys creating strong, outspoken characters with a touch of humor and a sprinkling of the unexpected.

Pat currently resides in Florida with her husband, Phillip, where she juggles two careers; one fact, one fiction, but both filled with romance.
