The new nanny is everything Matt Erickson doesn't want for his three children. Interested only in child care, he feels the woman is too young, too eccentric, much too attractiveand worst of all, likely to take off and leave his children hurt and confused once more. Wanting stability for his kids, Matt challenges her by making a overly generous offer for a long term commitment.
Like armor, Alix St. Germains outrageous clothing and attitude have seen her through the tough times. She has been an outsider most of her life, and hides from her past behind a cocky facade. Affronted that the widowed father thinks her too irresponsible to care for his family, she calls his bluff, and accepts his offer.
Just as she finally begins to believe that love might actually exist, her past walks in the door.
Book Reviews
Scribes World / Robin Bayne - 4 Stars
The last thing Matt Erickson needs is another attractive, young nanny for his three children. He wants the grand motherly type this time, who won't run off with a man or for a better job. But when he's stuck with Alix St. Germain for two weeks, he has to try very hard to ignore her trendy, youthful allure. The fact that she's a good child care provider and a nice person doesn't impress Matt--at least not at first. So he tries to scare her off by proposing a marriage of convenience to last ten years.
Alix is starting over, hiding from her past, longing for a real home and family. Working for the Ericksons is something she truly desires-but Matt is clearly afraid she'll leave them and break the kids' hearts. She's flabbergasted at his impulsive proposal, and the fireworks begin when she decides to call his bluff.
Ms. Perkin has written a fast-paced, engaging story with a mixture of domestic life and street-wise suspense. Although the child abuse theme has been done many times, Alix's story is believable as she tries to rebuild her life. The hero and heroine are opposites and their attraction is outrageous. I will watch for the next romance from this author.
Romance Reviews Today / Ashley Stout
The only thing nanny Alix St. Germain and widower Matt Erickson have in common is the care and welfare of his children. Other than that, these two are the most opposite of people. Matt grew up in a wealthy family while Alix lived on the street for most of her adolescent life after running from an abusive, underpriviledged family. As the new nanny, Alix is evverything Matt does not want; she is 'too young, too eccentric, and much too attrractive.' Add the fact that Matt has had disastrous nanny experiences in the past and you have an explosion waiting to happen.
Getting rid of this tough, beautiful woman is no easy task, however, so Matt devises a plan that will guarantee her removal from his life. But he never counted on her calling his bluff.
Alix's eccentric clothing and tough punk attitude mask a soft, caring heart, but when her new employer decides to challenge her, she calls him on it. Wanting a stable homelife for his three children, Matt proposes... literally. He wants a marriage of convenience. All she has to do is take care of the kids and keep his house, and he will reward her lavishly. She takes on the challenge, all the while thinking he would back out at the last moment, but she comes to learn Matt never backs out of a bet.
Can love bring these two opposites together, or will pride, stubbornness, and fear of the past tear them apart before they truly get started?
Outrageous is a fantastic book, from the characters, to the plot, to the genuine emotion shown throughout. I recommend this for anyone looking for romance, passion, or just a great book.
Sharpwriter.com / Diana Lesire Brandmeyer - Five Stars (Excellent Read)
Outrageous is a keeper. It made me cry, laugh and giggle. Unable to put it down, I was up most of the night, just me and my Rocket. I'd love to tell you each and every delicious detail, but I won't. You'll have to read it yourself.
Perkin has pulled off the age-old story of the nanny and the widower with a skilled finesse, making it difficult for other authors to compete. This reviewer plans to keep Outrageous forever. It's a book worthy of rereading.
Escape To Romance / Katriena Knights - Four Roses - Spicy
In Outrageous, Norah-Jean Perkin has created a pair of flawed, deeply real characters who have to learn to accept each other just the way they are. Though the premise is familiar, well-developed characters and strong writing produce a sexy, often suspenseful page-turner. Outrageous is a very good read.
Kathy's Faves and Raves / Kathy Boswell - Four Thumbs Up
I thoroughly enjoyed this hard to put down story. It was such a good story that I quickly finished it much to my chagrin! I tried to make it last but had no will power and just couldn't wait to see how it would end.
What Readers Are Saying
"Outrageous is a heartwarming tale of a lonely outsider who finds love and acceptance where she least expects it." Chris Carlisle
Norah-Jean Perkin
As a child, Norah-Jean always hated to finish reading the last page of a good book. Nothing was worse than saying good-bye to the characters with whom she had lived through suspense, adventure, sorrow, happiness and love.
So she didn't. When she got into bed every night, she created new stories for her favorite characters, often keeping herself awake half the night. Today she loves developing characters, loves and adventures that will capture her readers imaginations and perhaps even keep them up reading when they should be sleeping.
Outrageous is close to her heart because the heroine believes that love can't happen to her. Helping her find her hearts desire, and a place where she truly belongs, was satisfying and emotional work. She loves concocting romances and adventures that reflect her belief in the power and magic of love.
A former newspaper reporter, magazine editor and freelance writer, Norah-Jean lives with her husband and three children in a small city in southwestern Ontario, Canada. A member of Romance Writers of America, she is a three time Golden Heart Finalist.
Norah-Jean hopes you enjoy reading Outrageous as much as she enjoyed creating it. And if the characters and story inspire you to invent your own romantic fantasies, all the better. You can email her at paa@cyg.net.
