Texas rancher and socialite, Adi McLaurin, gets more than she bargained for when she travels to her long-lost brother's untimely funeral. She discovers she has an orphaned eight-year-old half-breed niece.
Grayson Renaux, the child's half-Choctaw uncle, lied. It was so bold a lie, it surprised him that God hadn't struck him dead. It was for her own good that Adi would never know the full truth. He swore away his own happiness to protect his niece and consequently swore to protect his dead friend's crazy sister. But, if he didn't protect her from himself, it would destroy Adi's well ordered life and his niece's too.
To save her family's ranch, Adi had agreed to marry a state politician. Her wedding gown was ready and the guests beginning to arrive for the week long celebration. But her life, Grayson's, and the lives of all of her siblings were suddenly turned upside down when Adi found herself unwittingly, but legally, bound to Grayson.
Book Reviews
Scribes World / Carrie S. Masek - Five Stars + Reviewers Choice Award
There are too many dead people in Adi McLaurin's life. First, her father's will commits her to a loveless marriage, then her brother dies and she must travel to a remote Choctaw village to care for his daughter. She bravely faces outlaws and an ornery tribal council, but her greatest challenge is the forbidden attraction she feels for half-breed, Grayson Renaux. To honor her brother's last request, Adi must go through a ceremony with Grayson to join the Choctaw tribe. The ceremony binds Adi and Grayson in ways neither can forsee--ways that may end up costing them everything, including their lives.
Unbridled combines the best of both romance and western genres. No fainthearted lady, Adi is strong, spirited, and determined to do the right thing no matter what the cost. Grayson is as fierce, loyal, and sexy as his Choctaw name, Black Wolf, implies. Their mutual attraction burns from the page, but it's the carefully laid common ground between them that makes their love both touching and believable.
Ms. Fossen has written an exciting and moving story. Her lovemaking scenes are imaginative, sensual, and tasteful, and include some of the most passionate kisses I've ever read. I highly recommend Unbridled. It's a fantastic book.
Affaire de Coeur - Four Stars
Texas 1888 - Adi McLauren attends her brother's funeral and finds herself charged with the care of an unknown niece, Kit. Grayson Reneaux, the child's half Choctaw uncle, delivers the child into Adi's care along with her deseased brother's wishes to have the child raised by the tribe. In order to request that the tribal chiefs take the child, Adi must first agree to undergo a ritual to become a Choctaw. She also agrees to hold her deceased brother's land in trust for the child and the tribe. But, the ritual ends up being all for naught. Thre tribe refuses and Adi, Kit and Greyson must travel to Adi's home, the McLauren Ranch.
Back among the discord of her brothers and sisters, Adi learns that the ritual was more than she was told. She and Greyson were wed. A simple act to aid her niece leads to complications, conflict and chaos that has repercussions through the lives of all she touches, not the least of which is her politician fiancé.
A delightful romance, this Western do-si-dos around a lively supporting cast of dysfunctional siblings, family obligations, prejudice, money and obsessions.
When it comes to storytelling, Delores Fossen has it together. Talent and a flair for unbridled tension makes Ms. Fossen a burgeoning star of LionHearted. Leap on this rollicking Western and tumble into a fun romance.
Sime-Gen / Bea Henson - 4 Stars
A wonderful book and worth reading.
Romantic Times / Deborah Brent - Four Stars
Adi McLaurin is competent, capable, responsible, and the sole heir to her father's kingdom. She would do whatever necessary to protect it for her sisters and brother, including marying a man she doesn't love.
But there's a slight hitch in the plan. She is already married to Grayson Renaux. Grayson is the uncle of her newest responsibility, Katherine (Kit) McLaurin, daughter of her recently deceased Choctaw brother and Grayson's deceased sister. As per her brother's wishes, she agreed to a simple ceremony to join the tribe with Grayson. Little did she know it was a wedding ceremony!
Adi and Grayson are two people who are willing to do whatever it takes to preserve their families. They are at seemingly cross purposes, but find through deep, abiding love that even the obstacles from beyond the grave can be overcome.
This traditional western is full of twists, turns and changes. A real page turner.
The Word On Romance / Carol Durfee
After Adina McLaurin attends her long lost brother's funeral, she discovers there is a lot she doesn't know about his life. Adi is his sole heir, but she also finds she has an eight year old half breed niece, Kit Adina Renaux McLaurin. Adi is taken to her niece by Grayson Renaux, Kit's half breed Uncle. Adi learns her brother wanted his daughter to be raised by the Choctaw, but in order for Kit to stay, Adi must request Kit be approved by the white village to attend their schools. There is a larger problem-- Adi must go through a ritual and become a Choctaw and prove to the Council that she is not the owner of the land the Choctaw are living on, and will not claim the land for her clan. Adi agrees, but she has no idea that this ceremony is a wedding ceremony and Grayson is the groom. When the request is refused by the Council, Adi, Grayson and Kit head for Adi's home and her dysfunctional family. Adi has already agreed to marry a state politician to save the family ranch and everything is ready for the wedding to take place when she arrives home, but everyone's world is about to be turned upside down when Adi finds she is legally bound to Grayson.
Grayson Renaux is a Choctaw half breed and wants nothing more than to protect his best friends sister and his niece now that his friend is gone. He has no idea how complicated his life will become when Adi shows up for Stuart's funeral. He must put his life on the back burner while he takes care of Kit and Adi.
Unbridled is a filled with delightful characters, prejudice, greed and a life amongst a dysfunctional family. Grayson and Adi have the same purpose in mind and that is to protect Kit from any harm or unhappiness. They both have put her first in their lives. They will do anything to protect their families, and for Kit that meant marrying a state politician. There is a varied cast of secondary characters that add depth and dimension to the story. The attraction Grayson and Adi feel for each other is evident from the moment Adi sees Grayson dripping with sensuality in her brother's kitchen. Grayson and Adi have a lot of obstacles to overcome to prove true love can prevail. The dialogue between Grayson and Adi at times is humorous, at first Grayson thinks that Adi is just his best-friends crazy sister.
Ms. Fossen has written a fast-paced, action packed story that will have you burning the midnight oil to see what happens next. I heartily recommend Unbridled for a rollicking good read!
Romance Reviews Today / Robyn Reo
Unbridled is a story of two people who overcome tremendous odds to be happy. Grayson is a wonderful character who stays true to his Choctaw heritage and fights for the woman he loves. Adi, on the other hand, accepts her fate too easily. She wants to be with Grayson, but she's not sure if it is a wise move. If she doesn't marry the man her father has chosen, she can lose everything she treasures. Adi sees no way out of this arranged marriage and doesn't seem willing to fight for what she wants. Secondary characters, especially Adi's sister, lend a strong hand to the outcome of this story. Best of all, Unbridled has a strong hero whom you will love to get to know.

Imagine a family tree that includes Texas cowboys, Choctaw and Cherokee Indians, a Louisiana pirate, and a Scottish rebel who battled side by side with William Wallace. With ancestors like that, it's easy to understand why Texas author and former Air Force captain, Delores Fossen, feels as if she were genetically predisposed to writing romances.
Along the way to fulfilling her DNA destiny, Delores married an Air Force Top Gun who just happens to be of Viking descent. With all those romantic bases covered, she doesn't have to look too far for inspiration.
