Affaire de Coeur - Four Stars
It was twins, and complications of pre-term labor which forced the reluctant Beth to contact Sam. She no longer could work and had to stay in bed. Beth had adored her older sister Holly. When Holly was prevented from having children, Beth offered to have their child. The process had been done a week before Holly died.
Sam Orlofsky wasn't sure how he felt when Beth called him from Boston. Since he couldn't help out financially, on his brother's advice, he asked Beth to come out to San Diego and to share the birth of his children. Sam asked her to marry him for the babies' sake.
Anita Lynn takes the idea of surrogate motherhood and offers a twist. Something In Common is uncommonly good!

Avery contemporary romance, SOMETHING IN COMMON brings real knowledge, real emotions, and realism to what is as fresh and new as today's headlines: fertility drugs and surrogate mothers. This is a riveting book, one that begins with death and ends with life.
Hollie, Beth's sister and Sam's wife, is unexpetedly dead, but not before her fertilized eggs have been implanted in her sister's womb. And that's the problem--not then but later, when Beth goes into early labor, is in danger of having premature twins, and is told to stay off her feet. In order to do that, she has to quit her job as a nurse and is forced to leave Boston and go to San Diego to live in Sam's house. They are practically strangers--even after they get married so that the babies can be legally his. A modern day marriage of convenience? Well, that's what they both say.
Ms. Lynn is an excellent writer and as a nurse, she knows whereof she speaks. The characters are all nice people, but they are, each in their own way, flawed, misunderstood, and groping toward some understanding and toward love. Beth and Sam both want a family, but are not sure how to go about achieving their hearts' desires. The book is moving in its emotional grasp of a very difficult subject: premature births. SOMETHING IN COMMON is marvelous. I could not stop reading--in fact I read it all in one setting because I had to know how it was going to end. Am I going to tell you? Not on your life. This is a book you will want to read for yourself, read and fall in love with the hero and heroine and with Ms. Lynn's writing--besides that you will want to see the cover; it is gorgeous.

Beth Jones agreed to be a surrogate mother for her sister Hollie and Hollie's husband, Sam Orlofsky, not knowing that her act of kindness would be more than a little complication in her life. Beth had always felt indebted to her sister because of the way Hollie had cared for her when their parents were killed.
When Hollie died unexpectedly, Beth did not receive any interest from Sam after she sent him a note telling him of the pregnancy. In fact, Beth was going to have the twins she was carrying with no help from Sam. All of this changed when, because of complications, Beth was going to have to quit her job and go complete bed rest for the remaining months of the pregnancy. Knowing that she would have some financial help, she contacted Sam. Sam could not help her unless she moved from Boston to San Diego to live with him. Beth had no chice but to accept his offer.
Going to San Diego proved to changed Beth's life more than she had expected. When Sam suggested that they marry for the protection of the twins, Beth was ready to go back to Boston. She didn't know Sam very well, plus her sister had only been dead a few months. Sam's brother Phil did not like Hollie and was taking it out on her. With no other option, Beth agreed to marry Sam. The marriage was the beginning of more complicated problems than either had counted on.
Anita Lynn has told a poignant story of two people thrown together after the tragic death of someone they both loved. Something In Common is a well written heart warming story that is a joy to read.
Romance Reviews Today / Robyn Reo - Highly Recommended
Something In Common touches on subjects that are all too familiar for families who are unable to have children or who have gone into premature labor. Anita Lynn takes on a sensitive subject and spins an emotional story that is both touching and heartwarming. Although both Beth and Sam are wary of each other, they make do with the curve balls that life throws them. They slowly learn to trust and respect one another and find love in the face of a tragedy. Something In Common is a one sitting read. You will be engrossed in the story just as I was. I highly recommend it.
Huntress Book Reviews / Flora
Something In Common is a warm, wonderful love story. The growth of love between Sam and Beth, the intelligence and understanding of the secondary characters, makes this a romance you will not want to miss.
Review by Dalequan
I couldn't stop until I had finished the book. This is one of the few romances I have read about "normal" peoples lives. You will cheer them on as they discover and accept the lot fate has cast for them. It is a very good read and positive experience for the reader.
Scribes World Reviews / J L England - Four Stars
If you like romance, real emotion, and wonderful writing, then I suggest you grab this book. It is exceptional and will demand a place on your keeper shelf.

What Readers Are Saying
"WOW! I just finished reading your book. It kept me reading every chance I got. It was really good. I mean it. I enjoyed it very much, and I never thought I'd enjoy a romance novel (just an assumption since I've never read one before)." Paul

Anita Lynn
Anita Gunnufson, writing as Anita Lynn, is drawn to romance because the stories have a positive message and a happy ending. "I enjoy the stories most when the characters make a difference in the lives of those around them."
A member of Romance Writers of America, since 1986, she founded the Northern Arizona chapter in 1992 and served as its first president.
After being a Golden Heart semi-finalist twice, she became a finalist with the entry of this book. When she received that exciting call that her book had sold to LionHearted, she screamed then cried. "My family came running to see what was wrong. The validation meant the world to me."
Happily married for almost 20 years to her real life hero, Craig, she uses bits and pieces of him in every hero she creates.
Anita has worked as a Woman's Health Care Nurse Practitioner since 1978. I felt women needed to be seen by an advocate who cared about them. Most of her novels reflect her medical background.
When she has time, she loves to hike in the forest surrounding her home with her dogs, Colt and Oro, a German shepherd and terrier mix. "Im really attached to animals and can tele-communicate with them. All I have to do is think 'forest' and the dogs are waiting by the door."
